Team Upskilling Programme
All our UKSPF fully funded, one, and half day courses are detailed below. Each course is being run in at least one market town in Shropshire, on different dates. Please note: Chamber membership is not required to be eligible, and no Chamber member benefits will be used for this training. This funding is administrated by Shropshire Council, through the United Kingdom Shared Prosperity Fund (UKSPF). Shropshire Chamber of Commerce is delivering the Upskilling Programme funded by UKSPF, and therefor, have no control over eligibility criteria or funding allocation.

This course is designed to equip you with the knowledge, skills and essential tools and techniques to effectively manage difficult conversations with courage and confidence. You will learn how to overcome barriers and how to become more assertive in your approach. By mastering these skills and techniques, you will be more equipped to enhance your ability to communicate clearly, handle challenging situations, and build more productive relationships.
The course will include:
- The importance of confident and courageous communication.
- Identifying and overcoming barriers to difficult conversations.
- Techniques for delivering challenging conversations effectively.
- Understanding the impact of avoiding difficult conversations.
- Practical application of key coaching models to support courageous communication.
- Introduction of tools to enhance assertiveness.
- Adapting communication styles to different personalities for more effective conversations.
By the end of the session, you will:
- Feel more confident, brave, and better equipped to tackle difficult conversations
- Have a range of resources and tools to support your development going forward
- Have a greater appreciation of the pros and cons of tackling difficult conversations
- Leave equipped with models and tools to support assertive and confident communication

Shropshire Chamber of Commerce’s ‘Team Upskilling Project’ has received £373,000 from the UK Government through the UK Shared Prosperity Fund.
Shropshire Chamber of Commerce’s ‘Shropshire Skills Hub’ has received £384,000 from the UK Government through the UK Shared Prosperity Fund.
The UK Shared Prosperity Fund is a central pillar of the UK government’s Levelling Up agenda and provides £2.6 billion of funding for local investment by March 2025. The Fund aims to improve pride in place and increase life chances across the UK investing in communities and place, supporting local business, and people and skills.
